WHAT TO SEE AT LAKE MAGGIORE

Residence Isolino is situated in the village Verbania Fondotoce, in an elevated and beautiful panoramic position over Lake Maggiore and its surrounding mountains.

Verbania is situated in the Borromeo Gulf and in a very strategic position for your excursions at Lake Maggiore. In this area there are many places to see, among those we would like to mention:

  • The charming Borromeo Islands: the Isola Madre with its botanic garden and palace dating back to the 16th century; the Isola Bella with its imposing Borromeo Palace dating back to the 17th century and its Italian style garden; the Isola Pescatori, a picturesque village with some small shops and restaurants.

  • The botanic garden Villa Taranto in Verbania Pallanza with wonderful flowers and trees coming from all over the world.

  • The Park Villa Pallavicino in Stresa: a beautiful botanic and zoological park.

  • The towns Stresa and Baveno, reknown for their luxus hotels and villas.

  • Orta Lake and the San Giulio Island.

For your walking tours or trips in the mountains we advise you:

  • The National Park Val Grande, the biggest wilderness area in all Italy.

  • The mountain Mottarone (1500 m) with its beautiful view on the Lake and the Alpinia botanic garden.

  • Macugnaga, an old walser colony, and the spectacular Monte Rosa (4.635 m).

  • The Toce Waterfall in Formazza Valley, the highest waterfall in Europe.
